Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how UniScorecard ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit uniscorecard.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Information we collect

UniScorecard is a public, read-only data site. We do not require accounts, ask for your name, address, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier in order to use the Site. We do not sell user data. The information we do collect is limited to:

  • Standard server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical information (IP address, browser type, referring URL, timestamp) necessary to deliver the Site and protect against abuse.
  • Local browser storage. We use your browser's local storage to remember the schools you have pinned in the compare tool. This data never leaves your device.
  • Anonymous usage analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. We do not use tracking that follows you across other websites.

2. Cookies

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any cookies set are strictly necessary to operate the Site or to remember non-personal preferences (such as your shortlist). You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features (such as the compare tool) may stop working if you do.

3. How we use information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site;
  • Diagnose technical problems and prevent abuse;
  • Understand which content is most useful so we can improve it.

4. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We may share anonymous, aggregated information (e.g. "X visitors viewed this page") and may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of UniScorecard, our users, or the public.

5. Third-party links and data

The Site links to third-party websites — including collegescorecard.ed.gov and the official websites of the institutions listed. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party site.

6. Children's privacy

UniScorecard is intended for prospective college students (typically 16+) and their families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU, UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we collect very little personal information, most of these requests will not apply, but you can contact us at any time to ask.

8. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Site. No system is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent via the contact details published on the Site. See also our Terms & Conditions.
